Hospitality RFP Management

Client Industry: Travel and Tourism
Purchase Category: Food & Beverage
Client Website: http://www.ihgplc.com/

Challenge

InterContinental’s buying guidelines require that contracts are awarded by RFPl. With existing methods, this had proven to be an administrative burden. Furthermore, the Asia Pacific region, with its widespread locations, needed a consistent and sharpened focus on brand identity and standards across all hotels. A key element in ensuring this consistency is making sure that all hotels in the group are procuring good and services to a consistent set of standards.

Solution

Over the last three years, InterContinental’s Asia Pacific division has used SupplierSelect for hospitality RFPs across all categories of Food and Beverage and hotel Maintenance, Repair and Operational items.

It has been highly effective in creating greater procurement discipline and transparency across the organization.

With SupplierSelect we have been able to provide local hotel purchasing managers with an effective tool to manage RFPs and tenders. We could also reinforce brand standards by providing standard hospitality RFP templates.
We have used a number of the big eProcurement systems over the years. These systems typically had RFx support as a minor feature tucked away in the back of the product, and were generally geared towards a price orientated manufacturing RFP. Because SupplierSelect is web-based and easy to implement, focused on making RFP management as efficient as possible and very flexible, it turned out to be the right solution from the start.
SupplierSelect has been very easy to work with. Managers using it for their own RFPs need no training and value the structure it provides. We have used SupplierSelect to run RFPs for millions of dollars of spend across a wide range of categories, from pension funds to smoked salmon. We can now disseminate updates on standard RFPs with one click.
